Cheryl Diane Arthur

Cheryl Diane Arthur was born February 29, 1960, in Saint Louis Missouri to the late Robert Lee and Rosetta Judy Arthur. She was the youngest of their two children. Her sisters Yvonne Arthur and Sharon Thompson, her niece Shaunta Arthur and brother-in-law Ricardo Thompson preceded her in death. Diane grew up and was educated in University City, Missouri. She graduated from University City High School in 1978. Diane professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized by her grandfather the late Dr. W.S. Jones at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. Diane met Leon Lashley and they had one son Jamel Leon Arthur. Diane really enjoyed bowling. She bowled at various bowling allies around St. Louis. She bowled at Northland Bowl, North Oaks Bowl, Fairlanes Bowl, Dick Weber, and Crest Bowl. She bowled at Kingpin Lanes in the Woodie Williams Memorial League on Saturday afternoons until COVID, due to her compromised immune system. Diane also enjoyed her social club Friends For Life which was established in 2004. These ladies met every month for a club meeting and to share a meal. They also traveled yearly as a sister circle. Diane was employed as a payroll clerk at various companies throughout her life. She worked for Southwestern Bell, Charter Communications and she worked for Suddenlink until her health failed. Diane really enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She could make the best BBQ, macaroni, and tuna a person could ask for. Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and she fought a good fight. She didn’t let the cancer stop her from enjoying life. She traveled, shopped especially Black Friday, ate at various restaurants from Citizen Canes, Cunetto House of Pasta, and Red Lobster. The good Lord saw fit to call her home Thursday March 20th at Christian Northeast Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her one and only devoted son Jamel Arthur. She was affectionally known as Nanny to Sheverick Arthur (Jonell), Dacian (Chunk) McKinney, DeVionte, Dream and DaMir. GiGi to Aria Arthur her new great granddaughter, one niece Tasha (Donald) Simpkins, one great niece DonMonique Simpkins and one great nephew Donald Simpkins III, brother-inlaw Willie Simpson, two devoted cousins Valerie Rhymes and Paula Hood (Tiny) and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted companion Silas (Billy) Hardison, her Friends For Life members Ernestine Hodges, Linda Taylor, Jacqueline Henderson, Patricia Henton, and Katherine Henton who preceded her in death, her best friend Katherine Hawkins, and the McWilliams family. Last but certainly not least, she leaves her angel Becky Grissom.
