Gail Hasting

In the early hours of May 11, 2024, God reached out His hand and said “Take my hand. Come to me and I will give you rest”. Born on September 10, 1953, Gail Lynette Hasting was the oldest daughter born to the union of the late Jesse and Imogene Nickerson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Gerald and Darryl and her only sister, Diane. Gail confessed a hope and love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Webster Groves. She continued praising him until she received her wings. She was educated in the Webster Groves School District and graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1971. After high school, Gail attended Missouri University in Columbia, Missouri. Later she married Byron Dixon and to this union one son, Byron II was born. Gail had a passion for bowling and working at the post office. It was there she met her late husband, Michael Hasting who shared her love of bowling. He was the love of her life, her soulmate and her caregiver for many years, before he too, was called home. Their relationship saw much happiness and was able to withstand the challenges brought on by many health conditions that Gail endured. Gail loved her family and would have gatherings at her home often. If they were not at Gail’s home, she would be at Gerald’s, Darryl’s or Reggie’s home enjoying barbecues, or fish fries and visiting with her family and friends. Her light, her laughter, and love will be forever missed by all fortunate to have known her. She leaves to cherish her memory: a son ~ Byron Karl Dixon II; one granddaughter ~ Marjannah Lehman; one brother ~ Reginald Nickerson; three sisters-in-law ~ Markitta Nickerson, Tamara Nickerson, and Carol Brown (Bayles); six nieces and three nephews. She also leaves two devoted friends ~ Elaine Roper and Frances Shell; one best friend and niece who stood by her side for the last 12 months ~ Phyllis Russell-Smith and Leslie Portis; an” Other Mother” ~ Florida Cargill; and a host of cousins and additional friends.
