Jeanette Cook

Jeanette was born on April 17th, 1942, in St. Louis, MO to the union of Annie (Jones) O’Neal and Joseph O’Neal, to this Union were born 2 boys and 2 girls. Jeanette was the oldest of her siblings. She grew up in a warm loving, God fearing home. Jeanette loved to read, and she would take time to read books to her younger siblings. Jeanette was baptized at an early age and confessed her hope in Christ, Jeanette grew up in in the Church of God in Christ. At the age of 17 she was a Sunday School teacher to youth and teens. She was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. Jeanette attended St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from Soldan-Blewett High School. She attended Spelman College in Atlanta but returned to St. Louis and graduated from Harris Teachers College with her degree in education. Jeanette taught at Beaumont High School, Ashland Elementary, and Williams Middle School. Jeanette was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Jeanette married Jewel Cook. Born to this union was one child, a son Douglas Brian Cook who proceeded her in death. Douglas passed away in 2021. Jeanette was a very faithful and active member of All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church of God in Christ, where she served on the Mother’s Board and vice president. She was very active in the Sunday School and served on the Ways and Means Committee. She was very supportive of the church’s Project Kingdom Building. Jeanette loved her church and church members with all her heart. Mother Cook was very stylish and loved to dress. She enjoyed shopping and liked the finer things of life. She was a true giver and wanted to see people blessed. She was the care giver for her father Dad Cook O’Neal until he was called home to glory. Jeannette Cook, beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend departed from this life on May 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness. Left to cherish her memory: Nicholas Cook (Grandson); Nasir (Great-Grandson); 2 brothers, Joseph (Butch) O’Neal, Jr. and Kenneth O’Neal (Sandra); 1 sister, Mary Lane; Kim O’Neal (Niece), Davita, (Niece), Annie (Niece), Nelson (nephew), Freda (Niece), Rafael (Nephew), and Hasan (Nephew); and a host of cousins from Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA, New York, Texas and St. Louis. Special recognition goes to Felicia Stuart (Goddaughter), Linda Bady (Grandson’s mom), Bishop Marquaello and Lady Kanesha Futrell, Mother Donzetta Lester, Mother Barbara Green, Angela Lowe, Yvette Spraggins, Clinton and Kim Gallagher (Cousins) and all others who touched her life
