Ruth T. Miller

Ruth Thomas was born January 4, 1943 in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the first child born to the union of Emma Lee and John D. Thomas. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1945 and while in high school she met and married Levi Miller, Jr., to this union four children were born. Ruth received Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in the sixties, under Rev. Joseph D. Linton. She later joined San Francisco Temple C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of Elder Dwight McDaniels in the early seventies. She was a Missionary, Evangelists, Sunday School Teacher, as well as a singer. She and her good friend, Barbra Mason were the first to bring praise and worship to the church and she loved singing her favorite song “How Great Thou Art”. Ruth joined San Francisco Temple Central C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of Elder Garrison (the name was later changed to Bethel Christian Assembly). She and Elder Garrison grew up as childhood friends and she was also one of the church’s first members. After Elder Garrison became Emeritus Pastor, Elder Steve Simpson became the Pastor of Bethel Christian Assembly, where she served faithfully. Ruth was a very loving person, and all the members were able to receive sound advice from her. Later, she was installed as one of the Mothers of the church, which she was very excited about. Ruth was employed with Barnes Hospital and retired after 31 years. She loved to shop especially with Ronald J., which is what she called him, but she also had her “Girls Day” with Zella, Teresa, Paula, Fae, and Carol, she really looked forward to those days. Ruth was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma L. Prichett and best friend, Barbara Mason. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory: four children ~ Antonius Miller, David Miller, Paul Miller (Patricia) and Darlene Silanskas (Ronald); two sisters ~ Olivia Saileau and Linda Thomas-Haley; one brother ~ John Thomas; fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three nieces, five nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of cousins, friends and loving church members.
