Bettye Louise Jackson

Bettye Louise Jackson was born on August 11, 1945 in Nashville, Tennessee to Herbert and Elizabeth McKissic. Bettye grew up with her parents, four sisters and four brothers in Evansville, Indiana and graduated from Central High School. While at Central, she was part of the school dance team called the Honey Bears. Bettye moved to St Louis as a young adult where she met her life partner, Claude Jackson. They married on March 30, 1974 at her sister’s home and started a family soon after. Bettye was a special person and to know her was to love her. She loved life and believed family was everything. She loved Christmas and watching cooking shows. She lived a simple life, but it was a life full of joy and bringing joy to others. She touched so many people’s hearts and lives. On Tuesday, May 23, 2017 God called her to be with him after a 4 ½ year all out battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Bettye is survived by: her husband ~ Claude E. Jackson; her children ~ Lorie Jackson, Lois Jackson, Claude Jackson, Reggie (Janie) Jackson, Dorian (Crystal) Jackson and Sheila (Charles) Turner; five grandsons ~ two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother ~ Pauline (Kenneth) Hopson, Mary Sue (Richard) Allen, Michael McKissic, Cheryl McKissic; and a host of family and friends.
