Edward Darby Crumer Sr.

Edward Darby Crumer, Sr. was born in Alton, Illinois on November 25, 1939 to Harris (Ted) and Florence (Darby) Crumer. Both parents preceded him in death. Ed Sr. grew up with a loving single parent mother and aunt household and younger brother, Carl B. Crumer whom preceded him in death. Ed Sr. played basketball in Alton High School. He was awarded Mr. Illinois Top Player for the Illinois Easy Ed and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for having the most point in a game and this record still stand till this day. After High School Ed Sr. received an scholarship to attend Coffeyville Community College in Kansas and graduated with an Associates Degree. While attending college he met Eleanor R. Wilson and they united in Holy Matrimony on June 16, 1962 and was married for fifty-seven loving years. Eleanor preceded him in death. He joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and during this time we traveled a lot. Edward severed in Vietnam. Their union was blessed with two children, Charlene D. Crumer-Ballenger and Edward D. Crumer, Jr. They came back to the United States. Ed Sr. received an Master Degree at Washington University in Human Resources. He retired from the military in 1982 Master Sergeant GT E-8. He worked for Fortune 500 Companies as Director of Human Resource. He retired to take care of his wife and he became a AAV basketball coach for two years (Prophets). Ed Sr. leaves to cherish his precious memories: his grandchildren ~ Jamisha, Christopher, Janee and Kazara and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. His favorite quotes was “I have been you age but you haven’t been mine.” If you don’t know the answer, ask the question” He will be Missed!
