    Ernest McCaine

    February 15, 1954 - February 5, 2016

Life Reflections Ernest McCaine, Jr. was born on February 15, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri to the proud parents of Mary Frances and Ernest McCaine, Sr. He was educated in the public schools, graduating from Charles Sumner High School in 1975. Soon after graduating, Ernest enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly embracing the motto ”Semper Fedelis” which means ‘Always Faithful’. He loved his family and he loved God. His statement was, “Nothing can ever separate me from the love of my Jesus”. He was very outgoing and friendly. He never met a stranger. Everyone was ‘Hey! Buddy’. Once while the family was enjoying a day at the park, Ernest disappeared. His mother and everyone were frantically looking for him when he returned riding on a horse along with a park ranger. Ernest was all smiles and said, “Hey Mama, meet my good buddy.” He loved to make jokes and laugh. But, he could be very serious and have the attitude of no nonsense. He could give you a look would make you step back. As a young man he went to visit his father who was living in New York and decided to make New York his new home. It was his home for the last 37 years. While there, he worked for the NY Transportation as a bus driver. He also was a jack-of-all-trades doing home remodel and repairs. He was very creative and good with his hands. He could fix almost anything such as cars, plumbing, basic electrical, etc. He was called home to glory on Friday, February 5. He was preceded in death by his mother and two younger brothers, Lance Eugene and Otis Richard and a sister, Dawn. He leaves to cherish his memory: his father ~ Ernest Sr. (Dorothy); three children ~ Frances Young (Aleek), Ernest McCaine, III (Latoyha) and Patricia; Nine grandchildren ~ Shaquille, Yasir, Shondell, Shadaija, Aiyana, Amyah, Aliyah, Alyssa, Alijah; one great granddaughter ~ Zoe; stepfather ~ Roosevelt; four siblings ~ Michael, Dorothea, Debra and Trudy (Glenn); uncle ~ John (Ethyl); nieces ~ Janine (Allen), Tawanda (Michael), Cara, Felicia, Mary and Jessica; nephews ~ Michael (Julie) and Steven (Denise); and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
