Gavin Alexander Zasaretti
February 10, 2017 - January 18, 2018
Our Beloved Gavin Alexander, infant son of Geferl and Dr. Choendal Zasaretti went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Gavin showed strength and resilience throughout his eleven months. He brought joy and happiness to all. Long before Gavin’s arrival his big sister Ava adamantly proclaimed, “Her Baby” was to come. To our surprise, as Ava had predicted, Gavin Alexander was born February 10th, 2017 at Missouri Baptist hospital. Gavin was called multiple names by those who loved him. By mom, “Momma’s Pooka Poo”, by dad, “Gavino”, by Nana, “Nana’s Pooh-Ba”, and by Granny, “Snickerdoodle.” During his first few months he was very demanding, but in the quiet hours he was the sweetest baby. Everyone who met him fell in love. He had a contagious smile and a tough smirk that got your immediate attention. Even while in the hospital Gavin was the star baby who charmed the nurses and staff with his snappy attire and stylish hair. Gavin was dedicated to God on October 8th, 2017. Gavin is survived by his parents Geferl and Choendal, his big sister Ava, paternal grandparents Dolores Outlaw (Jack), Walter Nichols (Gloria), maternal grandparents, Clifton and Carolyn Martin, paternal great grandmother Bessie McKinney, aunts Crystal Nicholson (Eric), Kacey Johnson (Javon), Kelly Martin-Young, Tenika Zasaretti (TJ), Karmyn Martin (Herbert, III) and a host of great aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Louis Children’s Hospital PICU for their incredible care of Gavin and our entire family. A very special thanks to Dr. Margret Schmandt, for being an advocate for Gavin as well as our family. The family appreciates all the prayers, and concern extended to us during this time. Memorials may be sent in Gavin’s name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis and The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) www.umdf.org.
