Harold’s parent, Joe Henry and Anna Herring Henry of Saint Louis, Missouri was joyful on July. 6, 1923 when their first son was born .Looking so beautiful, they named him Harold LaVoy Henry. Sister Myla Henry-Sykes and Brother Joe Henry Jr. were born shortly after. Harold’s, father, mother and both siblings have preceded him in death. Harold was baptized in Christ as a Catholic at an early age. He attended St. Elizabeth Mother of John the Baptist Catholic Church, now under the leadership of Father Steve Goljum. Harold served as a faithful usher until his health failed. Harold received formal education in the Catholic School System as well as the Public School System, graduating from Charles Sumner High School. Harold was drafted by the United States Marine Corp and served for four years receiving an Honorable Discharged. Harold received the “State of Missouri World War II Veteran Award for Patriotic Service in recognition of bravery and selfless sacrifice to the United States of America. Harold retired from Aeronautical Charters of St. Louis, Mo. after many years of service. Harold also enjoyed working at the AmVets Post 67 where he held the position of “Finance Officer” from 1983-1991 and “Commander” from 1991-1992. Harold is a "Life Time Member "of this service organization. Harold was also an active member of the Lamb’s Social Club and 1st Degree Member of The Knights of Columbus. Harold was well known as a “Sharp Dresser” and a Great Dancer.” He loved to travel, have fun and smile. Harold was united in Holy matrimony to Gloria Edmonds Henry (deceased), to this union a son and daughter was born. He later married, Flora (Flo) Vaughn-Henry (deceased) and inherited three sons. Harold met the love of his life, LaFrances Rucker Henry, and knew it was destiny at first sight. Thursday morning, July 16, 2015, Harold LaVoy Henry transition from this life to heavenly glory. Harold is survived by his faithful and loving wife, LaFrances Rucker Henry; his four sons Arthur Henry (Riet), Joseph Bernard (Irma), John Bernard and Kevin R. Vaughn (Keisha), his daughter Sandra Henry: Six grandchildren; Aisha, Jelani Henry, Jelani Days, KeAmber R., KeAirs L. Vaughn, and Johanna Bernard; Niece, Donna Epps (Tommy) two brother-in-laws John and Joe Rucker (Alice), two sister-in-laws, Rosalind Brinkley and Betty Evans; And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who shall cherish his memory.
