    Rose Rhymes

    January 5, 1941 - October 1, 2015

Rose Mary Bush (Rhymes) a.k.a. “Rosie” or “Tokyo Rose” was born in Elizabeth, Mississippi on January 5, 1941. She was born to Margaret Bush and Warren G. Smith. Rose moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1952. She accepted Christ and was baptized in August of 1952 at Rose Hill Baptist Church. She attended Beaumont High School for her first three years and her senior year attended Soldan and graduated in 1959. Shortly after she graduated from high school, she enrolled into Radiology classes at Homer G. Phillips and received her certification in Radiology Technology. She worked as a radiologist for over thirty-four years at St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood, Missouri. Rose was joined in marriage to Leon Rhymes on September 26, 1965. To that union, there were two children born. Rose was a member of Newstead Missionary Baptist Church where she also was part of the church choir. Later on in the early 80's she became a member of San Francisco Temple C.O.G.I.C. for twenty-six years and then moved on to New Spring Church. Rose absolutely loved family and her hobbies included crocheting, fishing and gardening. She also loved to watch her western movies on television as well as TD Jakes Ministries and Y&R as well as a lot of other shows. Rose passed through this life into eternity on the morning of October 1, 2015. Her stepmother, Sadie Smith, joined her in eternity on October 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Bush, her grandmother, Aver L. Bush, a baby sister, one daughter, Leontyne Rhymes, two brothers, Eugene Culpepper and James Culpepper. Rose leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters ~ Aver D. Jenkins, Lenora M. Rhymes and Laurie L. Banks (Eric); five grandchildren ~ Avianne L. Clay, Stefan J. Jenkins, Leandra R. Rhymes, Liam Y. Banks and Ethan A. Banks; one great grandchild ~ Jace A. Cruise; siblings ~ Larry Culpepper (Michelle), Warren Smith, Jr., Vick Smith, Reggie Smith, Heriscene Thompson (Howard), Justine Wedlaw, Loretta Stanley, Lisa Smith, Kim Bell and Mitzi Haddock; she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, friends and acquaintances.
