Willie James Hill Sr.
July 30, 1932 - November 6, 2017
Willie James Hill Sr. was born on July 30, 1932 in Aliceville Alabama to the union of S.J. and Minerva Hill. While in Aliceville he learned the importance of hard work and dedication. To that end, he traveled extensively earning wages, setting his family and himself up for success. Willie met the love of his life Ida Hill in 1960, and they have been united in holy matrimony for approximately 54 years. Willie moved his family to Saint Louis Missouri in 1964, where he worked in the research and development department at Washington University and in the dietary department at Barnes Hospital. In addition, Willie was an efficient “handyman” that could essentially repair anything. Hill became a man of faith many years ago and served as a dedicated member and deacon at New Jerusalem Church under Bishop Solomon Williams until his health declined. God called Willie from labor to reward on Sunday November 5, 2017 at 1:18 a.m. Willie was a great husband, father, grandfather, overall family member and friend. He was beloved by many. His sister Alberta expressed it best, “he will be missed dearly.” Willie is survived by his wife Ida Hill, sister Alberta Hill, children Willie James Hill Jr., Reginald Hill, Lela Murray, Frank McCaa Jr., and Linda Higgins; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.J. and Minerva Hill, siblings Ida May Riddle, Ruth Ann Smith and Jimmy Henry Hill, children Charles McCaa Sr. and Michael McCaa and grandsons Charles McCaa Jr. and Shawn McCaa.
