Benson Adetula's Obituary
THE TIME OF MY DEPARTURE IS AT HAND.
I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE,
I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH.
~ 2 TIMOTHY 6 - 7 ~
Benson Adebola Adetula was born in the town of Owo, in Ondo State,
Nigeria to Adetula Adanigbofe and Owoduti Adetula. He has a sister,
Aina Salami. His father died when Benson was barely a child, leaving
him to take on the role of the head of household very early in his life. He
supported his family by working in the farm and taking up random
activities like boxing to earn a living.
He attended St. Andrews Primary School and moved on to Owo High
School in Owo, Ondo, Nigeria. Due to his poor upbringing, Benson was
usually in and out of school as he couldn't afford his school fees,
leaving him to finish high school later than usual. He eventually finished
and moved to Lagos in chase of a job and better life. In Lagos, Benson
took up an accounting program which got him a job in companies like
the Nigerian Textile Mills, Guinness and Poloni Engineering. After
creating a stable life for himself in Lagos, Benson went back to Owo to
marry his wife Yemisi Adetula and moved her to Lagos with him. Benson
and his wife had their children (Wuraola and Victor Adetula) in Lagos
years after that. Benson was always a believer in perseverance, he
believed that through constant hard work and dedication one can
accomplish anything. This belief proved itself when his family won the
Visa Lottery Program in 2002 despite Benson's application being
rejected year over year for over five years. Benson and his family moved
to St Louis, Missouri in 2003 and he had lived here with his family.
Benson is a loving father, grateful husband and very helpful friend.
He is survived: by his wife ~ Yemisi Adetula; his son ~ Victor Adetula; his
daughter ~ Wuraola Adekoya; his son-in-law ~ Adedeji Adekoya; his
grandchildren ~ Victoria, Oluwadamilola, Michael Adekoya; his extended
family and friends.
