Betty M. Watts' Obituary
Betty Minette Watts was born on November 26, 1926 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was the oldest of two children born to the union of the late Ezekiel Morgan and Minette Spiller. Her mother and brother preceded her in death. Ezekiel Morgan remarried Addie McFerrin, who was an amazing stepmother.
She was educated through the St. Louis Public School System, where she attended Cole Elementary School and completed her education at Sumner High School.
Betty accepted her call to Christ at the age of nine years old. She became a member of Central Baptist Church in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Betty married James Henry Watts and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1947. To this union three children were born, Steven Henry Watts, Raymond Louis Watts and Betty Ann Watts. Raymond Watts preceded her in death.
Betty returned to Saint Louis, Missouri in 1959. She obtained a position as a Central Supply Technician at Jewish Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 1994. During this time, she met her common-law-husband, Joe Willie Ross, who was a great husband and stepfather. Joe Willie Ross preceded her in death.
Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and making sure everyone had more than enough to eat. She enjoyed watching people enjoy themselves. In her own words, “Having nice, clean fun” and that we did. Her pastime passion was playing bingo and visiting the casinos. Betty was such a beautiful lady, a beautiful soul and a beautiful light for so many.
On November 23, 2019 Betty departed this life. God said, “My angel you have suffered long enough”.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her precious son ~ Steven H. Watts (Rosalind); her beloved daughter ~ Betty Ann Watts; her former daughter-in-law ~ Sharon Watts; granddaughters ~ Sharonda Watts and Sherina Watts; two great grandchildren ~ Steven Alexander Watts-Barnes and Shernise Minette Watts; a host of beloved relatives, extended family and friends.
