One memory I’ll always cherish about Byron.
Years ago, when I was pregnant with my first son, I went into what I thought was labor while standing at the bus stop by Skate King. I was scared because it was my first pregnancy and I didn’t know what to expect. Byron stayed right there with me, helped me onto the bus, and made sure I got home safely.
By the time we made it to Wellston, my contractions had stopped, it turned out to be false labor. We both just started laughing. I remember Byron saying, “I didn’t know what to do, but I wasn’t going to leave you.” And I told him, “I didn’t know either, it was my first time being pregnant.”
Every time we ran into each other later in life, we would laugh about that day all over again. That’s the kind of person Byron was caring, genuine, and someone who showed up when it mattered.
Rest peacefully, my old friend. You will truly be missed and remembered.
