Calvin E. Jones' Obituary
Calvin “CJ” Jones was born on March 29, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri, to loving and hardworking parents, John and Lucy Jones. He was the youngest of three children. Calvin was preceded in death by his father, John Jones; his mother, Lucy Jones; his grandmother, Edna Meredith; sister-in-law, Cynthia Meredith; brother, Robert Meredith and his older sister, Hazel Meredith. CJ began his education in the St. Louis Public School System. He continued his studies and graduated from Berkeley High School with the Class of 1985. He went on to earn his bachelor ’s degree from the University of Central Missouri. During his time at UCM, he became a Spring 1987 initiate of Zeta Tau Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He also received his Masters Degree from Webster University in 2002. CJ gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Grace Fellowship Church at an early age. Later, he joined Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church. CJ continued to be a faithful member until our Lord called him home. Over the years, CJ was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to excellence in everything he did. He was the proud owner of Comfort and Cozy Properties, LLC. In addition to being a devoted entrepreneur, CJ also served his community in many other ways - as a referee, a coach, and a loyal sub-contractor of BJC Hospital, where he worked diligently for many years. His commitment, leadership and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Some of CJ ’s favorite pastimes included sharing delicious meals, traveling, watching sports and spending time with family during the holidays, often hosting gatherings at his home. He also enjoyed visiting his alma mater, the University of Central Missouri, especially during Homecoming celebrations. On Friday, October 17, 2025, Calvin “CJ” Jones was called home to glory to join his Heavenly Father. CJ leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved son ~ Charlton Jackson-Jones; two nephews ~ Robert “Bobby” (Deon) Meredith and Todd Meredith; two great-nieces ~ D ’Nejah Green-Meredith and Khylia Meredith; two great nephews ~ Bobby Harrison and Keondre Harrison; one great-great niece ~ Ashton Richardson; he will also be remembered fondly by his Kappa brothers, a host of extended family members, dear friends and church family who loved him deeply.
