Carlton Anthony Green's Obituary
Mr. Carlton Anthony (Tony) Green, sixty-three, left his earthly home and entered into Heavenly Peace on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, surrounded by family. Tony was born on April 11, 1957 to the late Opal (McClendon)
Green Davis and William Green, whom preceded him in death. He was also
preceded in death by one aunt, Catherine (McClendon) Thobbs Wallace;
one great granddaughter, Za’Carra M. Harris; and one nephew, Julian A.
Cummings-Davis.
Tony attended school in the Alton Public School System. Tony entered the United States Air Force in March 1977, served in Turkey as an Airman.
Over the years, he had various jobs working in the construction field as a
concrete layer. He also worked for the Madison County Economic
Opportunity Commission as an organizer.
Tony was an avid reader, loved history and could converse on any subject.
He had a great love for his family and friends. He always found joy in storytelling and enlightening his children and grandchildren on his rich family
history.
Tony was a people person and loved to laugh. His laugh was memorable.
He also took great pride in his personal appearance and loved to slip on a
great pair of Gators. He loved sports and talking about current events. He
was an intellect and loved history. He adored his grandchildren and often
bragged about them. Tony’s greatest joy was being with family and close
friends.

Michelle L. Jackson and Bianca R. Jackson both of Alton, Illinois; three
sisters ~ Yolanda R. Green, Bianca Green of Indianapolis, Indiana and
Cynthia R. (James) Means of Frankfort, Illinois; one brother ~ Joseph B.
Davis of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren ~ Senior Airman Bryant D.
Brewster of Avianno, Italy, Brittany N. Brown, Christopher L. Jackson,
Sabrina M. Bradford, Javon C. Woods and Jaxon M. Woods of Alton, Illinois;
two great grandchildren ~ Avianna M. Brewster of Cleveland, Ohio and
Orlanduis M. Lacey, III of Alton, Illinois; two nephews ~ Tre Williams and
Caleb Heart; one niece ~ Sherea Williams; two first cousins ~ Janet (Carlus)
Gully and Jacqueline (Joe) Thobbs Boyd; one special baby cousin ~ Dierdra
(Missy) Sanders; and special friend ~ Kathy Tepen; and a host of other
relatives and friends.
