Mrs. Carolyn Bond-Thomas' Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Rose Bond-Thomas was born October 7, 1950 in Carbondale,
Illinois to Violet Wimberly-McComb and William Parham. She was preceded in
death by her mother, Violet Wimberly-McComb, her son, Alonzo Walker, her
sister, Shirley J. Wimberly, and one brother, Jewel D. Wesley.
Carolyn accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She attended Lovejoy High
School and later on Mildred Louise Business College. Carolyn obtained an
Associate’s degree in business. Carolyn was the owner of Potnar’s Fish and
Grill at the time of her death. Carolyn married her husband, Ray Dee Thomas,
on December 26, 2012.
Carolyn could light up a room with her smile. She loved cooking, traveling and
spending time with family.
Carolyn departed this life on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her father ~ William Parham
(Norlene) of Memphis, Tennessee; husband ~ Ray Dee Thomas of Pontoon
Beach, Illinois; two daughters ~ Cozette Ward of Hazelwood, Missouri and
DeAnda Lilly-Marshall (Malcom) of Edwardsville, Illinois; stepchildren ~ David
Nicholson, Nicholas Johnson, Ray Dee Thomas, Jr., Paul Thomas, Shar’e
Thomas and Aaron Thomas; Carolyn’s extended family ~ Ketra Sims (Gary) of
Rowlett, Texas and Montrece Bush of Gilbert, Arizona; six grandchildren ~
Brianna Ward, Brandon Ward, Kaelin Marshall, Malcolm Marshall, Ivan
Marshall and Braxton Ward; extended family ~ Gary Sims, Jr., Jordan Sims,
Kelton Bush; three great grandchildren ~ James Johnson, Jr., Karter Taylor and
Kalib Taylor; three sisters-in-law ~ Mildred Anderson, Betty Dunn and Sharon
Davis; two brothers-in-law ~ Lamar (Bobbie) Thomas and Billy (Claudia) Thomas;
one nephew ~ Cortez Wimberly; one niece ~ Carletta Rhodes; four cousins
very dear to her heart ~ Keith Wimberly (Beverly) of Charlotte, N.C., Wilma,
Ghada and Robert Wimberly all of Carbondale, Illinois; two loving aunts ~ Mrs.
Gloria Wimberly of N.C. and Mrs. Ann Wimberly of Carbondale, Illinois. Carolyn
had many friends. She also leaves her best friend ~ Sharon DeLaRoche; and
her long time dedicated employee for twenty-eight years ~ Kevin Hoye; and a
host of nieces, nephews and other relatives from her extended family.
