Catherine Henry's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Catherine Henry
August 26, 1941 – June 14, 2025
Catherine Henry was a radiant soul—graceful, wise, and overflowing with love. Born on August 26, 1941, in Tyronza Arkansas to the late Dr. Reverend Elmer Mitchell and Ethel Mae Mitchell (Cooper). Catherine's life journey was one defined by unwavering faith, enduring strength, and a love that reached far beyond her family and into the hearts of everyone she met. Her story took root in St. Louis, Missouri, where she built a life centered around family, compassion, community, and devotion.
On June 14, 2025, surrounded by the love she so freely gave, Catherine transitioned peacefully into eternal rest.
Catherine’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with moments of joy, resilience, and deep love, and was blessed with five children from her first marriage. Later, she found her soulmate in Eugene Henry, with whom she shared a partnership grounded in love, respect, and unwavering companionship since December 21, 1985.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her being. Catherine gave her heart to Christ early in life and remained a devoted member of her church family for many years, finding strength in worship and fellowship. Even as her health declined, her prayers remained powerful and her faith unshakable.
She carried the heavy weight of enduring the passing of her parents, her brothers Leroy and James Mitchell, her sisters Thelma Jordan, Ernestine McCovery, and Barbara Johnson, her beloved daughter Felicia M. Ingram, and her dear grandson Sir Juan R. Ingram. Yet through each sorrow, Catherine’s grace only deepened. Her quiet resilience and steadfast belief in God became an anchor not only for herself, but for all those who leaned on her.
Catherine had a servant’s heart and found joy in uplifting others. She spent many years volunteering at a local food pantry, where she offered far more than meals—she offered dignity, comfort, and a sense of belonging to those in need. Her kindness was never loud, but always deeply felt.
To her family and friends, Catherine was the heart of the home. Her kitchen was a sacred space where love simmered in every pot and laughter echoed off the walls. She welcomed all with a smile that made you feel instantly at ease, and her gentle words and listening heart made you feel truly seen.
Catherine leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations: a legacy of faith, generosity, and immeasurable love. She is survived by her devoted husband, Eugene Henry; her loving children, Juan R. Ingram, Melissa Moore, Vynester Davis and Kathryn Ingram; her cherished step-sons, Donnell Henry and Terrell Henry; her treasured siblings, George (Lynn) Mitchell, Sherman (Jessie), Joe, Tony, Terry, Jacqueline, Tina, Shirley (Willie) Clarrett, Sharron, Christine (Henry) Grandberry, and Glenda; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives, friends, and community members whose lives were better for having known her.
Though Catherine has departed this earth, the love she gave remains ever-present—woven into the hearts of those she held dear, echoing in the prayers she once whispered, and living on in the kindness we share with one another.
Rest well, Catherine. Your light will never fade.
