Cedric Russell Anderson's Obituary
Life Reflections Cedric Russell Anderson was born to the union of Harold and Eltesa Anderson. Both parents preceded him in death. Cedric attended elementary school at Benton & Lexington in the Saint Louis Public School System. He was proud to graduate from Sumner High School as his Dad did. Cedric later attended Florissant Valley Community College and UMSL. He was very active in the UMSL Student Union and recruiting other students to attend UMSL. Cedric developed a high interest in snow skiing, photography and jazz music. He played a very important part of producing concerts for the student government booking such greats as Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. Cedric also became a Midnight Disc Jockey at KWMU and coordinator of yearly ski trips to Colorado for six-eight years. Cedric helped coordinate the Gilkey Family Reunion Picnic with his cousin, Ramona Jacobs for many years. When Cedric married and became a parent, he was determined to teach his daughter, Errin, everything he knew about family, skiing and photography, including developing photos in his own dark room. Cedric was a member of the Photo Journalism Group at UMSL. He photographed many college graduations and marathons locally and in the Midwest Region. Cedric was very active in the PTA of Bishop Healy and held many other offices. He was also Chair of his Neighborhood Block Association #1328B that covered the triple block of Northland from Kingshighway to Union. Cedric delighted in blocking off the street yearly for a block party by providing music and BBQing hot dogs for the neighbors and all former residents of this tight knit block. He welcomed new neighbors to Northland and took the cares and concerns of the neighbors to the Quarterly Urban League board meetings. During his employment with First Bank, his favorite moments were providing treats to fellow employees on Valentine’s Day and the Halloween Party With decorating cubicles and areas for the employees children and relatives to attend.
