Celestine Gude's Obituary
Celestine Powell Gude was born in Comanche, Carter County, Oklahoma
(T.Okie) on December 18, 1935, the beloved daughter of Alexander Paul
Powell and Oma Nero Powell. She was the 4th of 8 siblings. Her parents,
beloved sister, Maude A. Leaks; and brothers, (first born) Alexander of Tatums,
OK and Billy Gene Powell of St. Louis, MO and grandsons, Jamari Gude and
Ronnie Gude, Jr.; all preceded her in death.
God called her to enteral life on Saturday morning March 5, 2022.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and attended
Bethany Church and Tatum High School in Tatums, OK. She became a
member and severed as Mother of the Church at Southern Mission Baptist
Church in St. Louis, MO. The church released a 2000 CD “Grateful Southern
Mission Unified Voices”. She retired in 1986-1987 from Barnes Wash U
(medical records) after eighteen years of service.
Celestine Powell married Casey Mack Gude (Covington-Mason, TN) after their
union during Casey M. Gude. U.S. Army Service in Fort Sill, OK.
To this union six children were born, Barbara Gude-Thompson of St. Louis, MO,
Lonnie A. Gude of Kankakee, IL, Ronnie B. Gude of San Bernardina, CA,
Sharon L. (Gill) Wills of St. Louis, MO, Angela Gude (Darryl) of St. Louis, MO
and Casey A. Gude (Raymell Gyles) of Kankakee, IL.
Mom had a zest for life, and an desire to share her love. She enjoyed good
food, reading, traveling, her Audie Murphy Army movies. Her love of music, she
was proud of her two songs written for Jobete.
She is survived by: all her children; four beloved sisters, Rita Barbara Dixon of
Detroit, Michigan, Rayvon Sanders of Ft, Worth, Texas, Patricia A. Powell of
Detroit, Michigan and Gloria E. Powell of Chicago, IL; nineteen grandchildren,
fourteen great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
