Charles Gardner's Obituary
Charles Everette Gardner was born on December 24, 1949. He was
the oldest of nine siblings. Charles grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and
lived in the Ville neighborhood where he attended Turner Middle
Jr. High and Sumner High School.
Charles worked various jobs during his life but mainly worked in the
construction industry. He was a fun-loving person who enjoyed
listening to his radio, working crossword puzzles, playing dominoes,
card games and he loved to fish when he was able.
He spent time with his friends when possible and enjoyed life on his
terms. Those who loved Charles loved him for who he was. He was a
father, grandfather, great grandfather, big brother, uncle and a friend
to many. Although Charles suffered from a lengthy illness he never lost
his carefree attitude. He departed this life on his sixty-seventh birthday
on December 24, 2016.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Josephine McGee and
Claymond Gould, three siblings, Russell L. Gardner, Sheron E.
Robinson and Dennis E. Gardner.
Charles live on in memory and leaves behind: his three children ~
Charles E. Henton, Marry Spraggins and Kershon Spraggins; six
grandchildren ~ Treavon Taylor, Parshawn Henton, Sandra Henton,
Charles Henton, Arion K. Spraggins and Kershon Spraggins, Jr.; three
sisters ~ Karen Gardner-Thomas (Donald), Janet Webb and Laurie
Gould; twelve great grandchildren; his healthcare aide ~ Ms. Glenda
Silver, who was an integral part of his life for over five years; and a host
of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
One thing is certain and that is the Lord knows all about Charles
because of the efforts of his grandmother, Jennie Gardner. She prayed
for him probably every day of his life until her death, and for those of
you who knew Jennie, its believable that she is still whispering in the
Lord’s ear on behalf of her grandson.
