Charles Otis Johnson's Obituary
Charles Otis Johnson was born on August 30, 1931 in
Meridian, Mississippi to the union of Maime Lee Hardy and
Joseph Johnson. They later moved to St. Louis, Missouri in
1949.
Charles was educated in the Mississippi School System.
During his sixth grade year Charles left school to work and
take care of his family.
Charles professed his love for Christ in 1953 and was
baptized at St. Ann Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
On March 16, 1952 Charles married Jane Kay Moore
(Johnson) and to this union one daughter was born, Patricia
Lynn Johnson (Whitney). They were married for sixty-one
years.
Charles worked with the Sansone Group for almost seventy
years. Charles had a scholarship named after him that
supported several college freshman with college funding.
Charles was an avid golf player and bowler. He bowled a
300 game and won countless trophies for both sports.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Kay Johnson;
daughter, Patricia Lynn Johnson Whitney; and his mother
and father, Maime Lee Johnson and Joseph Johnson.
Charles departed this life on Friday, October 20, 2023.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his siblings ~ Arthur
Johnson, Elnora Faye Scott, Jessie Johnson, Shirley Cobbs
and Johnny Johnson; his grandchildren ~ Allen Charles,
Johnson Whitney and Patricia Jane Dora; great
grandchildren ~ Aidan Charles Whitney, Aiyana Danae
Whitney and Peyton Jae Dora; and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
