Cynthia Gay York's Obituary
Cynthia Gay York, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully on
February 13, 2021. Cynthia was born in Saint Louis, Missouri in
1961. She was the fourth child of six born to Ozie and Charlie
Collins.
Cynthia graduated from Laboure High School in 1979, an all girls
catholic school at that time. In 1980, she enlisted in the U. S. Army
and served in duty at Fort Hood, Texas and Germany until 1987.
During her time in the service, she met her beloved husband of forty
years, Stephen York. Shortly after, Cynthia received her nursing
license as an LPN. She had a true passion in the medical field and
enjoyed serving her community.
Cynthia loved spending time with her family and friends. Though, in
her free time, she was found in the comfort of her home watching
her favorite old movies, and cooking for her family. Cynthia was
known for her great cooking and 7-up cakes that was loved by all.
Cynthia’s smile and laugh was infectious and her personality was
unmatched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ozie and Charlie Collins
and her son, Charlie York.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband ~ Stephen York;
two children ~ Eddie York (Shene) and Rachel Bradley; three sisters
~ Velva Pryor (Charles), Cheryl Finley (James) and Lori Moten (Tony);
two brothers ~ Ozie Collins, Jr. and Dale Collins; two grandchildren ~
Evan and Evelyn York; a loving mother-in-law ~ Cynthia Fogle; four
sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; one goddaughter; and many
nieces, nephews; other family and friends.
