David Dwight Hayes' Obituary
David D. Hayes, lovingly known as “Dwight,” was born on February 22, 1944, to Esterline Haynes Dean and James Navies, later adopted by Ernest Hayes. Dwight was lovingly raised by his great-grandparents, Charles and Lillie Luckett, and Mother. As a young student at Hadley Technical High School, Dwight was a great athlete, mainly focusing on track and field, especially winning many awards in the hurdle jumps. He was very fast, breaking many records, which earned him a scholarship to SEMO. David was baptized at Trinity Mt. Carmel M.B. and later joined Friendly Temple Church. David Dwight was united in Holy Matrimony to Camilla H. Hayes. To this union, he had two beautiful daughters, Kimberly and Allastir. Later, he married Willetta, who preceded him in death, and then Claudine. Additional siblings to Kim and Allastir are Stephanie, Shonta, DaVonte (twins), and David Jr. David worked and retired from General Electric, moving up to management roles in his career. David was very talented, with the ability to build and wire TVs in his cars and “pimp his rides” in the late 70’s–early 80’s before MTV created the show, as well as building furniture. Dwight’s favorite hobbies included bike riding, bowling, dancing, photography, and playing cards. He joined Allastir in fundraising Bike-A thons and training her in soccer. PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: Parents Esterline (Haynes) Hayes Dean, James Navies, Ernest Hayes; grandparents John B. and Gertrude (Luckett) Haynes; siblings Angela Hayes, Darline Cheers, Jeffrey Hayes; uncles Ocie Haynes and John B. Haynes Jr.; aunts Margaret Iverson and Delores Petty; nephew Jabari Hayes. DAVID LEAVES TO CHERISH: six children ~ Stephanie, Kimberly H. Anderson, Allastir K. Hayes, Shonta Hayes, DaVonte Hayes and David Hayes, Jr.; four siblings ~ Curtis Hayes (Makeda), Claudia Boyd, Gilda Latham (Alvin), and Jennifer Hayes; three grandchildren ~ Aaron Wiley, Daniel Wiley, and Ava Hayes; close cousin ~ Cornell Haynes; and many cousins, eighteen nephews and nieces, one great-grandchild, and so many extended family and friends.
