Devyn Bolden's Obituary
Devyn Me’kael Bolden was born on September 19, 2004 in St. Louis, Missouri to
Madge Bolden and Dustin Johnson. He was a proud 2023 graduated of Hazelwood
West High School where he won medals and earned varsity letters for swimming.
Devyn loved his family, and the feeling was mutual! Our six-foot teddy bear was most
known and loved for his sense of humor, practical jokes and ability to find fun in
almost any circumstance. Devyn enjoyed all genres of music, having recently attended
his first heavy metal concert. Also he started DJ lesson and became a fan of vinyl
records. Everywhere Devyn traveled, which he loved to do, he wanted to visit the local
record store and the beach. Devyn was extremely talented, having played saxophone,
violin, drums and guitar, in addition to being a strong visual artist. While playing video
games, reading comics, fishing, and riding rollercoaster were also things he enjoyed,
one of Devyn’s first loves was train-from the animated Thomas The Train to actual
Locomotive. In fact his knowledge of trains were quite impressive.
Devyn also loved animals, especially his dog Dempsey which he found while
volunteering at an animal shelter. Dempsey will surely miss Devyn. Of all Devyn
enjoyed, food was something he greatly appreciated. As a kid, his great-grandmother
Shirley (a.k.a. GG) gave him the nickname “Honey Bun”, which he quickly shed once
he became s teenager. Some of his favorite food/drinks included pizza, sweet tea and
cheese or anything with cheese in it.

Shanda Bolden; uncle ~ Dewayne Thornas (Liz); niece ~ Maelyinn Burr; great-aunts ~
Jamel Wrjght (Telly), Delorie Thomas, Stacie Brown (Lloyd), Tiffany Dorsey (Harold),
Kimberly Glover, Brooke Bullock, Robin Geralds and Lillian Bolden-Rodgers; great
uncles ~ Donnell (Goodye) Woods, (Jessica), James J. Santa Cruze, Jr. (Robin), Chad
Bullock (Allie), and Jeffrey Coerver; along with a host of other family and friends who
loved him dearly.
Devyn was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Benjamin (Robbie) Robinson and
Michael Bolden; great-grandfathers, Donnell Woods, Sr., James J. Santa Cruze, Sr. and
Eddie Bullock; great-grandmothers, Ruth Bullock, and Shirley VanGorkom; and greatuncle Leonard (Herc) Ward, We know they were the first angels to welcome him into
the Kingdom of Heaven.
Devyn's fun-loving presence, smile, kindness, and practical jokes will be missed by so
many. We were blessed to have Devyn in our lives, and we know he is making the
angels laugh and smile.
