Dorothy Mae Dukes' Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Johnson Dukes 91, of Florissant, MO died peacefully on Monday Aug. 16, 2021, at NHC Healthcare, Maryland Heights MO. She was born March 31,1930 as the youngest child of Rev. Calvin Johnson and Estellar Days Johnson. She was a native of central Arkansas for 85 years, where she spent her time as a homemaker, loving wife, and assisted her husband Earnest “Love” with operating his landscaping and custodial services businesses. She was a current member of Grace Bible Church, 1912 Central Pkwy, Florissant, MO, a former member of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, Little Rock, AR, and the former first lady of Rice Memorial Baptist Church, Little Rock, AR. Mrs. Dukes loved her husband and took great pride in caring for him, their family, her dear friend, Mrs. Bernice Kumpe, and the Kumpe family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Calvin Johnson and Estellar Days Johnson; husband “Love” Rev. Earnest Dukes, brothers Calvin Johnson Jr. and Roosevelt Johnson.
Cherishing her memory are her daughters Alana (Paul) Lewis of Florissant, MO, and Yvette (David) Holt of Florissant, MO; a host of extended family, grandchildren and friends.
Mrs. Dukes will be buried at Bellefontaine Cemetery (Lavender Hill) 4947 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115 on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
The family asks in celebration of her homegoing that everyone take time to express love and pray for humankind. Like her husband, Rev. Dukes, she believed in prayer and trusted God with her life.
