Elaine Mattie Stith's Obituary
Our beloved Mother, Elaine Mattie Stith, departed this life at 12:40
p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Christian Hospital Northeast in
Saint Louis, Missouri, being blessed with sixty-nine years. Elaine was
born on September 19, 1951 in Saint Louis, Missouri to the union of
Augustus and Claudia Stith. She was the only child. She grew up
attending church at Calvary M.B. Church under the pastorate of
Reverend I.T. Moore and later under the late Rev. Ronal C. Bridewell.
She attended Saint Louis Public School District and was a graduate of
Sumner High School. Elaine went on to attend Stowe Teachers College
to become a teacher. In late December 1989, she received her Masters
in Education. She also was a Social Worker for some time. She was an
art teacher for Wellston School District and later with Saint Louis Public
School District.
Elaine was blessed with two children whom she loved with all her heart.
Elaine was an optimistic woman with a heart of gold. Teaching was
something she loved because she wanted to enrich the minds of children. Her former students always stayed in touch with her. She was an
avid Photographer and Painter. She always loved classic movies and
interior decoration. Music was a part of her life. She played the clarinet
at her high school marching band. She loved R&B, Jazz, Bossa Nova,
Gospel and easy listening.
She leaves to mourn: her loving devoted daughter ~ Maia Stith; one son
~ Claude James; her first cousins ~ Mary, Barbara, Cornell,
Ingomar, Milton, Jr., Wilbert, Ray and Leo; her second cousins ~ Tony,
Christine and Donny; and other friends and relatives.
