Emma M. Buchanan's Obituary
Emma Mae Buchanan was born to Andrew and Hannah
Thrist in Camden, Arkansas. Emma graduated from Union
Grove High School. She confessed her life to Christ at the
age of five at St. Mary’s Methodist Church.
Emma and James Edward Buchanan united in Holy
Matrimony on August 20, 1967.
Emma maintained a very close relationship with God and
lived her life as such. She was named Evangelist Missionary
for the National Church of God and Christ. Emma enjoyed
sewing, making her own clothes, cooking, gardening and
vacationing with her husband and sons. She took joy in
helping her sons to navigate the ins and outs of business
ownership. Emma was a loving grandmother and provided
mentorship for young Saints near and afar.
Emma departed her life on May 12, 2019. She leaves to
cherish in her memory: a husband of fifty-one years and nine
months ~ Elder James Buchanan, Sr.; four sons ~ James Jr.
(Sedeula) of Kissimmee, Florida, Jerry (Nadi) of London,
England, Jonathan of New Jersey and Jeffery of Saint Louis,
Missouri; six grandchildren; six brothers ~ Oliver (Loretta),
Ralph Andrew (Marilyn), Raymond (Dianne), Emmiett Ray
(Mary), Elbert (Mary) and Alvin (Loraine); and four sisters ~
Rosie, Opal, Marilyn, and Earvine.
