Jacqueline Marie Dabney

Jacqueline Marie Dabney was born on July 20, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to John H. Nance and Mary Jo Nance. Both parents preceded her in death along with three sisters Cecilia Carruth, Marilyn Rush and Angela R. Nance; two brothers, Richard L. Nance and Roger L. Nance; and a niece, Monica Nance. Jacqueline was the fifth child to be born of this union. Jacqueline confessed her life to Christ at an early age in 1964 on an Easter Sunday, at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, under leadership of Reverend Taylor. Jacqueline was educated in the St. Louis Public School District and graduated from Beaumont High School. While attending Beaumont she also attended Forest Park Community College for two night a week, receiving college credits. She held her educational endeavors with high standards. In 1972 she was untied in Holy Matrimony to the late Terry L, Cross. They were blessed with two sons Kevin and Terrance. Terry and Jacqueline often had discission about her finishing her degree. She promised him she would finish her degree and she kept her promise. She received her degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Maryville University. During this process, she became a single mother. It took a while because of family obligation and providing for her children as a single mother. On August 20, 1988 Jacqueline remarried to Mr. Derrel Dabney. No children were born to this union and they had a great life together. Jacqueline also enjoyed doing ride-a-long with the St. Louis Police Department for quite sometime. Until she experienced how the system worked for some but not for others, so she decided to move on to working for St. Paul Insurance Company. She was there for twenty-five years while working she also went to school in the evenings. No one knew of this but her sons. She was dedicated and determined to making a better life for herself and her sons. She was a Proud and Devoted Mother! Jacqueline wasn’t a person to brag about her accomplishments but she was so proud of herself after achieving each one of them. She then decided to switch up from the Insurance Industry to working for several Attorneys, more focused in her degree area, She mastered this for 18 years. After 43 years of working , Jacqueline decided to retire from it allJacqueline Loved her family and friend celebrating Holidays, Birthdays, Anniversaries and special events always filled her heart with pure Love and Joy! A favorite quote of hers states: Young Ladies you can do anything, when you put your mind to it and work hard towards your goals. ~ Jackie Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory are: her two sons ~ Kevin Nance and Terrance Cross (Tarita Towers); her grandchildren ~ Terrance Jr., Tayanna, Tyla, Caiah and Jerry; one great granddaughter ~ Ta’lyn; four siblings ~ Donna (Rev. Doris) Strong, Pheneas Nance, Keith Nance and Dianna (Edward) Wade; Jacqueline also had a special nephew dear to her heart, Edward (Keilesha) Demond Wade, Sr.; one god-daughter ~ Alesha Cobbs; along with all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and dear friends; also, there’s a very special and dear friend ~ David Granat; and best friend ~ Paula Cobbs.
