Janice Petty's Obituary
Janice Trotter Petty was born on April 18, 1930 to the union of Ed and Emma
Pugh Trotter in Star City, Arkansas. She was the third child of nine children.
Her parents; and brothers, Willie, Frank, Charles and Daniel, all preceded
her in death.
As a young lady, at the age of fourteen, she accepted Jesus Christ as her
Lord and Savior at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Todd, Arkansas.
Later in life she met Levi Petty, Sr. and was united in matrimony in 1948. To
this union, a son was born, Levi Petty, Jr.. The family relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri in 1953.
In Saint Louis, she joined St. Stephens M.B. Church, where she served as a
usher and was the Usher Board President. Janice moved her membership to
Family of God M.B. Church in 1998 under the leadership of Pastor Ola M.
White.
Janice was employed at Jupiter/Kmart and eventually retired from Kmart
after thirty-five years.
Janice was a very humble, soft spoken person who had a very big heart and
loved everyone she met. She had a very kind spirit and would help anyone
who was in need.
On Sunday, November 1, 2020, Janice was called home to rest from her
labor and gained her wings.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son, Levi (Addie) Petty, Jr.;
one brother, Curtis (Kim) Trotter; three sisters, Ola M. White, Thelma Foster,
and Bobbie J. Winston; two grandchildren, Angela N. (David) Like and Anthony L. Petty; three great grandchildren, Anthony L. Petty, Jr., Jada S. Bonds
and Cameron A. Petty; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
