Jean Elsa Vance's Obituary
Jean Elsa Vance was born in Saint Louis, Missouri to her late parents,
John and Jean Sherod. She will be remembered by her infectious smile,
laughter and unconditional love she had for those dear to her.
Jean worked at Saint Louis University Hospital as a Pharmacy
Technician for over thirty years. She was a devoted member of First
Baptist Church of Meacham Park and was deeply loved by many
members. She participated in countless events within the church and
never hesitated to serve her church family in any way she could.
Anyone who knew Jean understood how selfless she was and no matter
what her situation was, she always made sure she took care of
everyone else before herself. Jean had a heart of GOLD.
In December of 2014. Jean was diagnosed with Leukemia and her life’s
path changed. Despite the struggles she faced, she fought everyday
with a smile on her face and remained steadfast in her faith.
Nearly four years later, God called her home on the morning of May 19,
2019.
Those left to cherish her memories include: her sons ~ Michael Turner
(Shavon Turner) and Sean Jones (Leahmarie Jones); her daughter ~
Ashley Stockdall (Glen Stockdall Jr.); her eight grandchildren ~ Amaya
Jones, Lauryn Turner, LaRon Harris, Mikayla Turner, Lenzy Turner,
Melany Turner, Giovanni Turner and Michael Turner Jr.; her brothers ~
Ronald Sherod (Michelle Sherod), Darwin Sherod and Paul Sherod; her
daughter’s father ~ Jeff Vance and his family; many nieces, nephews,
other family members and friends.
