Jonell Whitehorn's Obituary
Jonell Whitehorn was born on June 27, 1946 in Barton,
Alabama to Cora Oates and Walter (Shaq) Oates. She was
preceded into glory by both parents; sister, Pamela Oliver and
stepson, Thomas Jr.
Jonell received an education at Cherokee, Alabama High School.
Jonell was very passionate and enjoyed working for Correct
Caps making hats, spending time with her family, cooking and
traveling.
Many were drawn to her because of her light that shines so
brightly. She was able to shed light as she always opened her
home to others, as everyone would call her “Mama Jo”.
Jonell Whitehorn leaves to cherish her warm and wonderful
memories: three sons ~ Dexter (Debra) Holiday, Thachous
(Lonni) Holiday and Jessie (Tamara) Whitehorn; two sisters ~
Eulalia Marshall of Cincinnati, Ohio and Niecy Pride of
Cherokee, Alabama; one brother ~ Mylam Oates of Cleveland,
Ohio; one living aunt ~ Julia Armstead of Detroit, Michigan; six
grandchildren ~ Evelyn, Terrana, Morgan, Ryan, Charles and
Imani; five great grandchildren ~ Amerh, Carlos, Chayce and
Cambre; three stepsons ~ Shawn, Delrick and Darren; step
daughter ~ Tia Marie Harris; and a host of cousins, friends and
loved ones.
