Joseph Moore Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Moore, Jr. was born on October 6, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to
Joseph Moore, Sr. and Ruby Griffin-Moore. Joseph was the 8th of 13
children. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age.
He graduated with honors from Mercy High School in 1963 and was an
admired Cross Country Runner. He also played football and broke his
collar bone in that effort.
Immediately after high school, he enlisted in the Army. In his 17-year
career, he served as a Paratrooper, Tank Commander, and he flew an
Assault Helicopter while in combat. Joseph received a Combat Service
Medal, Vietnamese Medal of Honor, including due to being wounded in
combat, a Purple Heart, among other distinguished awards.
In 1977 Joseph suffered a major stroke, which ultimately ended his
Military career. Over the years, being determined, consistent and focused,
he rehabilitated himself and began his second career at DMAAC
(Defensive Mapping), where he retired after 20 years.
Joseph was married 5 times to 4 different women. Goes to show, he was
committed to marriage; just not committed to the women.
