Julia Mae Posley's Obituary
Today we celebrate the beautiful life of Julia Mae Valliant Posley, a beloved matriarch whose love touched generations. She lived a life filled with faith, strength, wisdom, and devotion.
Julia Mae was born April 12, 1937, in Mantee, Mississippi to Walter Valliant Sr. and Pearlie Eldora Cousins Valliant (both deceased). Julia was the first of three children born to this union, with both her brother (Walter Valliant, Jr.) and sister (Bessie Lee McKenney) preceding her in death.
After graduating from high school, Julia married Eulice Posley on April 1, 1955, and relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. To this union, six (6) children were born. Eulice preceded her in death.
Throughout her life, Julia was known for her kindness, strength, faith, generosity, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Upon arriving in St. Louis, Missouri, Julia became a dedicated member of West Side Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she transferred her membership to Kinloch Church of God for a brief period, but later returned to her home church, West Side Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church at the time of her death. Julia dedicated many years to raising her family. She found great joy in cooking and caring for her family. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome. Her home was often a place of comfort, laughter, conversation, and meals shared with those she loved.
Julia later worked outside the home as a dietary aide in several local hospitals and as a cashier at Walmart. She was both a skilled and dedicated employee. Her personality enhanced the jobs she performed.
Julia was called home March 2, 2026. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children ~ Ralph Posley (Addie), Phyllis Maxine Posley, Raynard Posley, Jeffrey Posley (Cheryl), and Jacqueline Johnson. One child, Dwight Posley, preceded her in death; grandchildren ~ Samantha Posley preceded her in death, LaTasha Johnson, Amanda Posley, Brittney Posley, Samantha Posley, Stacey Posley, Isaac Posley (Ashley), LaKesha Johnson, Sidonie Posley, Shaniqua Barnes, Shawnté Posley (Russell Zimmerman, Jr.), Phillip Posley, Dr. Jeffrey Posley, Jason Posley, Nyah Posley, Jerimiah Posley and Joshua Posley; devoted first cousins ~ Mildred Davidson and Patricia Shotwell; brotherin-law ~ Robert Posley (Shellie); sisters-in-law ~ Wilma Fouche and Lula Mae Virges; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Julia will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be treasured always.
