Kathy Therese Adams' Obituary
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…” If you heard those words, then you knew that Kathy was happy, she was concerned, she was perplexed, or she may even be searching for answers, but most importantly, you knew that Kathy was one to count on and trust in the Lord. It is perhaps the theme of her life from the time she was small growing up in Fulton, Missouri, the daughter of Cornell W. Pasley and Mamie L.(Black) Pasley (both of whom precede her in death .) Born on July 20, 1955, Kathy learned from her parents the importance of family, friendship, and trust, especially in God. Her faith was cultivated in Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Fulton where she learned that sharing the gifts that God gave her with people in need was one of the most noble things that she could do with her life. A young woman of many gifts, during her years at Fulton High School she enjoyed participating in sports and excelled in Track and Field, where she would give as much to fans in the stands as she would to members of her Church.
Through her cousin, Jackie she would meet her future husband Kevin Adams of Kansas City, Missouri where she moved in 1975. She and Kevin lived in Kansas City for 13 years, during which time they conceived two children, Stacie Charise Adams-Owens (Darrick Owens) and Nicholas Brandon Adams, ho along which her grandchildren Devin Christopher Owens (deceased), Dylan Isaiah Owens, and Dallas Matthew Owens would become the people in her life of whom she was most proud. In 1988, Kathy moved with her family to St. Louis, Missouri, where she lived the rest of her life.
Never one to stop giving through her dedication and commitment to Christ and his teachings, Kathy became an active member of New Northside Missionary Baptist Church and served on many Church committees and auxiliaries under the leadership of the late Bishop Willie J. Ellis. A dutiful and devoted member, Kathy was integral in the creation, administration, and service to the Sisters of Mercy at New Northside, a group founded on the principles of giving, loving, and caring for members of the Church and community in their times of need. Another great passion of Kathy’s was children. In her private life she was fortunate and honored to have touched the lives of a great many children for whom she cared, loved, and shared her sparkling smile and infectious laughter, and each of whom remembers their cherished, “Ms. Kathy” today.
After a long and courageously fought battle with illness, Kathy was called home on Sunday, September 7, 2015. She would want you to know that her job here is done, and that after a life well-lived and talents put to excellent use, she is rewarded in a reunion with loved ones who await her, including her parents Cornell and Mamie Pasley, her brother James “Bruce” Pasley, her sister-in-law Odessa Pasley, and her infant grandson, Devin Christopher. She leaves behind to cherish her memory and to build upon her legacy of love, her husband, Kevin, her children Stacie (Darrick) and Nicholas, her grandchildren Dylan and Dallas, her brothers Cornell “Sonny” Pasley and Victor Pasley (Pamela), and sister-in-law Carolyn Pasley, in addition to a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen (1 Peter 5:10-11 KJV).
