With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevontae Malik Washington, lovingly known as “Vontae,” who departed this life on August 7, 2025, at the young age of 23. Born in Hayti, Missouri raised in St. Louis, Kevontae was a proud graduate of Lift for Life Academy, where he not only excelled academically but also stood out with his athletic talents and vibrant personality. Vontae had a deep love for football, enjoyed flipping, dancing and was happiest when surrounded by his family. His joyful spirit, gentle heart, and infectious smile could light up any room. He had a special gift for making people laugh and always made others feel loved and welcomed. He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Maurice Washington, and now joins him in eternal rest. Vontae is survived by: his loving mother ~ Samantha’ Garner; sisters ~ Kiara Washington and Brandi Williams; brothers ~ Konic Washington and Brandon Washington; bonus brothers ~ Jarrod Eley and Larry Franklin; niece ~ Nevaeh Williams; nephews ~ Kameron Green, Kemarion Green and Isaish Williams; godmother ~ Taccara Holmes; and a host of devoted aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends who all loved him dearly. Vontae cherished his family deeply, and the bond he shared with them was unbreakable. Known for being kind, generous, outgoing, loving, caring, and above all, gentle, Vontae left a lasting impact on everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His beautiful soul and uplifting spirit will be missed beyond words.
