Larry Bruno Ellis' Obituary
Larry Bruno Ellis was born March 7, 1935 in Columbus, Mississippi to Dorothea
Ellis and Maurice Williams.
Larry attended High School at R. E. Hunt and college at Tennessee State
University (Nashville, Tennessee) and Webster University (St. Louis, Missouri).
Larry was a member of St. Alphonso Rock, St Louis, Missouri. He was baptized in
the Catholic faith on May 9, 1964, St. Rose of Lima
Larry was united in Holy Matrimony on December 18, 1960. To this union one
daughter was born, Daphne Donice Ellis.
Larry’s work history included USAF, AMC, Troscom, AVSCOMS, Pentagon, and U.S.
Army of Engineers .
Larry was a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi.
Larry had an career with the Department Of The Army. He was Recognized for
exceptional performance and services; exceeding normal requirements and
outstanding leadership for all duties performed. He received an Achievement
Medal for Civilian Service. His last promotion was GM-14. He was also a member
of the American Helicopter Society, Certified Integrated Logistic Support Manager,
served on the Army General Staff, (authorized to wear General Staff
Identification), and attended the U.S. Army Logistics Management College
(successful completion of the Army Integrated Logistics Support).
After retiring from the Department of the Army, he taught adult education through
the St. Louis Public Schools. He assisted students with attaining their GED, job
training and acquiring scholarships for college, graduating successfully. He also
received various other recognitions and accomplishments. After retiring from
adult education, he continued mentoring and tutoring young people.
His hobbies were golf, bowling, grilling and home improvement projects.
He was preceded in death by special aunts and uncles, Everleana “Mama”, and
Albert “Daddy” Pope, John H. and Mattie Ellis, and special friends, Lev Williams
and Dr. Lamar Alexander.
