Lawrence Westley Irving's Obituary
Lawrence Westley Irving was born on December 21, 1966 in
Saint Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Noreen Taliaferro and
Lawrence Wesley Cain, both of St. Louis, Missouri. His mom,
Noreen Taliaferro and his grandparents, Juanita and Ora Irving
preceded him in death.
Lawrence received his education in the Saint Louis Public Schools and
graduated from Soldan High School in 1985. He attended Iowa
State University from 1985-1990 and earned a Bachelor of
Landscape Architecture with a Minor in History. Lawrence pledged
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and joined the U.S. Army Reserves
while attending Iowa State University. Sergeant Irving retired from
the U.S. Army Reserves in 2024.
Lawrence’s matrimony to Wendy Griffin blessed them with a
daughter, Alexy Mareen Renee Irving and with a son, Westley
Christopher Irving.
Lawrence began his career with the Saint Louis Police Department
in 1996.
Lawrence joined the Friendly Temple Baptist Church, where he
remained an active member until his transition.
Lawrence had an infectious laugh, an optimistic look on everything
and unlimited jokes and stories. What most people remember about
him is how kindhearted, charming and proud of the legacy he created.
He adored his children and his grandson, Sol. Everyone he met
knew about them!
Lawrence Westley Irving departed this life on Saturday, February 1,
2025.

Alleyne; his Godmother ~ Nancy (Larry) Bryant; two sisters ~ Tina
Taliaferro and Tamara Taliaferro-Thomas (Richard Thomas); one
brother ~ Todd Cain; a special daughter ~ Reana Elder; eight nieces;
four aunts ~ Sandy Robinson, Emeline (Milton) Irving, Carol
(Michael) Irving and Jaqueline Carter; a host of family and friends.
He also leaves to cherish: his ex-wife ~ Wendy Griffin and a special
friend ~ Theresa Douglas.
