Lorene H. Shelton's Obituary
Lorene Shelton was born on April 1, 1928 in Swifton, Arkansas to Cleophis (Hicks) Graves.
In 1937, she confessed a belief in Christ at Swifton, Arkansas Church of
Christ at a young age. Lorene shared a deep passion for the Lord.
As a young adolescent, Lorene transitioned to Saint Louis, Missouri to
live with her Aunt Ruby, where she attended Sumner High School.
Lorene later graduated and attended Homer G. Phillips Nursing School.
Lorene met her husband, Detective Milton R. Proctor, and three
children were conceived to this union: Linda A. Proctor, Milton H.
Proctor and Kevin R. Proctor. Milton preceded her in death. In Lorene’s
second marriage to her husband, Eria S. Shelton, she conceived an
addition of four children to her family: Loretta Shelton, Derek Shelton,
Eric C. Shelton and Donna Shelton. In 1960, Lorene and Eria Shelton
lived in California and shortly moved back to Saint Louis, Missouri.
Lorene was the family matriarch, and also worked as a Nurse’s Aide
and often provided assistance at the Election Board Service.
Lorene loved religious broadcast programming, good food, socializing,
gardening, playing the piano, bingo and fishing. She had a deep
passion for music and her pets. Beautiful Lorene had a smile that could
light up a room and will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eria C. Shelton; mother,
Cleophis (Hicks) Graves; daughters, Linda (Proctor) Davis, Loretta
Shelton and Donna Shelton; and her grandson, Major Washington.
Lorene leaves to cherish her memories: children ~ Milton H. Proctor,
Sr., Kevin R. Proctor, Derek Shelton and Eric C. Shelton; grandchildren
~ Gerald Proctor, Donya (Proctor) Taylor, Linda Proctor, Lorene Proctor,
Jamahl Goodlett, Milton H. Proctor, II, Arthur Lee Davis, III, Holly Davis,
Jami Davis Jackson, Arlinda Davis, Sean Shelton Cameron, Shanon
Shelton, Ryan Shelton, Cherie Shelton, Erica Shelton, Larry Williams
and Benton Bondurant; and a multitude of great grandchildren, cousins
and close friends.
