Louise P. Shepherd's Obituary
On June 1, 1925 in Millington, Tennessee, Alex Porter and Cassell Sutton were blessed with a child. They named her Louise Porter. Louise’s mother, father and five siblings preceded her in death. Louise spent her childhood in Terrell, Arkansas and Millington, Tennessee.
At twelve, Louise received the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at Philadelphia Baptist Church located in Rossville, Tennessee. Louise later moved to Kinloch, Missouri, where she became a member of Southern Mission Baptist Church, also located in Kinloch. She served as an usher under the direction of Reverend Wash Yates. She later became a member of Leonard Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Bishop Steven G. Thompson.
Louise joined Ottis L. Shepherd in holy matrimony. Louise and Ottis moved to Kinloch, Missouri in 1948. The Lord blessed them with eight children. Louise and Otis raised their eight children in Kinloch.
Louise was known to all as “Gram”. In 1976, “Gram” stopped working and became a full time childcare provider. Louise provided childcare for many families in the Kinloch neighborhood. She opened up her home to many. Louise touched the lives of many.
