Mamie L. Hyde's Obituary
Mamie L. Hyde was born on July 24, 1944 in
St. Louis, Missouri to the late Mr. Clarence
Gosby and Mrs. Mamie Gosby.
Mamie worked as a substitute Teacher for
Parochial Catholic School System for several
years. She later was employed by Schnucks
Market as a Floral Manager for 24.5 years until
her retirement in 2008. She was also active
with the Junior Achievement Program. Mamie
was a dedicated and loyal member of UFCW
Local 655 and served as a Shop Steward. She
served on the Sickle Cell Committee. Mamie
was dedicated to several organization: Coalition
of Black Trade Unions, A. Phillip Randolph
Institute where she was still active. She was
also very active in supporting, helping and
giving herself to the Public School System.
Mamie was the National Night Out Coordinator
of the Northland Place Association.
Mamie departed this life on Saturday, May 23,
2015. She was the mother of Andre Hyde, (who
preceded her in death) and Roshuna Hyde.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories: one
daughter ~ Roshuna Hyde; one granddaughter
~ Jasmine Wilson of Springfield. Illinois; seven
great grandchildren; four sisters ~ Betty (Clem)
Nimako-Boateng, Essie (Ralph) Foster, Ozie
(Eugene) Bell and Delores Balthrop; devoted
friends ~ Terri, Queenie, Ruby, Bertha, Ann,
Mary and Vivian; a host of other relatives and
friends.
