Martha A. Dixon's Obituary
I, Martha Lee Washington-Dixon was born on May 9th, 1938 to Jim
Washington and Jessie Bozeman in Little Rock, Arkansas. Preceding her
in death was her parents and one son Ifiok Louden.
I attended Dunbar High School and St. Bartholomew High School in
Little Rock, Arkansas. I was baptized at an early age at New Hebron
Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T. Sims. I was a member of
“The True Tone Jr. Girls” a singing group in Little Rock, our songs were
played on the radio every Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. I traveled to
many towns in Little Rock singing.
I worked at Bellefontaine Habilitations Center for 35 years and worked
at St. Louis University. I would travel to other state facilities working
with staff in their program helping them prepare for survey and
accreditation. I have taught clients self-help skills and got joy when one
would pick up on skills.
I departed this life on Monday, November 6, 2017.
I leave to cherish my memories: three sons ~ Dennis Washington (Berva
Washington), Cottrell Dixon, Jr. (Carmel Dixon) and Ricky Dixon; three
daughters ~ Phyllis Dixon, Marilyn Davis (Leonard Davis) and
Charlesetta Cook (George Cook); two godsons ~ Clearance Green and
Kermit Robinson; twelve grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
