Mary Evelyn Yates' Obituary
Mary (McBride) Yates was born August 1, 1943 in Medan, Tennessee to
Beatrice McBride and Elmer Fuller who both preceded her in death. Both her
parents remarried to Queenie Fuller and Allie Taylor who preceded her in
death. She was the oldest child of seven siblings, one brother and five sisters.
Ozell Fuller, Eloise Goodwin, Barbara Jean Douglas, Diana Fuller, Lutrisha
Taylor and Teresa Finch (who preceded her in death).
She professed her life to Christ at an early age, and then joined West End
Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
She attended Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee where she was in the
first graduating class in 1961. She then moved to Gary, Indiana right after
graduation to join her siblings, father and stepmother. She then moved to
St. Louis, Missouri in 1967.
She worked for Brown Shoe Company and then later helped her cousin,
Virginia “Gina” Cannon, at Lombardo’s restaurant which started her new
career she loved. She worked at Lombardo’s for over twenty years where she
retired. After being the mother to many from the neighborhood and church;
our Lord and Savior called her home on April 27, 2023. She leaves us several
memories.
She was united in Holy Matrimony on July 13, 1968 to Robert England Yates
who preceded her in death. She had five children two sons and two daughters
and a bonus a daughter ~ Kermit Lamar Fuller (who preceded her in death),
Ricardo (Alice) Yates, Shevaughnda Jelks (bonus daughter), Amaryllis (Amir)
Paschal and Araminta Miles. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren ~
Kisha Vinson, Orlandis Fuller and India Blake (both preceded her in death),
Montez Fuller, Aricka Yates, Alexis Yates, Samaria Yates, Cyketha Tillman,
Dezarea Yates and Amarah Paschal; and a host of great-grandchildren, niece
and nephews.
