Matthew Bernard Stallings' Obituary
Matthew Stallings “Matt” was born to Matthew and Ollie M. Stallings on
September 28, 1949. His father preceded him in death in 2007.
Matthew was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where he graduated from
O’Fallon High School in 1968 and went on to attend Northeast Missouri
State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Education in 1972. Additionally, he completed his Masters in Industrial
Technology in 1976.
He was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Episilon Eta Chapter in
1969 and continued as an active member in good standing of the St. Louis
Alumni Chapter.
Matthew was also a Third Degree Member of the Prince Hall Masons.
From there, he joined the U.S. Army and spent three years in active duty.
After that, he served in the reserves for over 20 years and retired as a
Lieutenant Colonel.
Upon completion of active duty, he began his career with the St. Louis
Board of Education, where he taught Industrial Arts for over 34 years and
was an administrator in the school as well.
Matthew retired on September 1, 2003.
Matthew departed this life on Sunday, April 16, 2017. He leaves to cherish
his memory: his loving mother ~ Ollie Mae Stallings; daughter ~ Sydney
Stallings Brown; one sister ~ Olivia Stallings; one brother ~ Kenneth M.
Stallings, MD (Lorraine); one niece ~ Shannon Stallings, MD; one nephew ~
Kenneth M. Stallings, II (Ariel); a brand new grand niece ~ Olivia J. Stallings
(born on April 16, 2017); along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, dear
friends and loving neighbors
