Mendicuis Rafeial DeJong Smith's Obituary
Mendicuis Rafeial DeJong Smith, better known as Raffie aka Twin to his family and friends was a gift from God on August 18, 1975 to live, love, and laugh with us for a while. He went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2017 to have peace and love for eternity. Raffie was one of three born to Charles and Vanceal Smith.
Raffie was a dutiful brother, nephew, son, and a constant friend. He was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He graduated in 1994 from Hazelwood East High School.
Raffie was loved by all who knew him for his comic relief and his huge heart. He enjoyed having fun and spending time with family and friends. He loved his family and would do anything for them and those he loved most. All who know Raffie were blessed by his motivating and inspiring presence and unconditional way of celebrating life.
Raffie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Alphonzo Smith,
grandparents, Herman and Willetta Smith, Ora & Juanita Irving; uncles, Herman Smith Jr. and Michael Irving; aunts, Georgia Smith, Hermania Smith, Elaine Smith; and cousin, Leotus Nelson Carter.
Raffie leaves: his mother ~ Vanceal Lynette Smith - aka Lefty; siblings ~ Dawntanya Marie Eloise Smith and Mendicuis Raoul DeJong Smith; life partner ~ Brittany Jones; his children ~ Taron M. Norman, Ja’mona Smith,Christiana Lynn Smith, Mendicuis Raoul DeJong Smith and Princeton Charles Smith; granddaughter ~ Ta’rihya Ania Norman; nieces ~ LaDonna Helton, Nicky Clay, Demetria Turnage, Makele Shanks, Makala Shanks and Ranisha Smith; nephew ~ Dameian Harris; and a host of aunts and uncles, countless cousins and friends. A special acknowledgement and thanks to Doug and Chrissy Merello, Nita Harrold and the entire Conoco Family.
