I had this task that I knew she and I would be able get together and spend a afternoon or two doing having a good time because she liked organizing and putting things in order and she always found time to lend a helping hand irregardless of how tedious the task. Never in a million years did I imagine my friend wouldn't be here on this earth with me! I'll miss here but I have a lifetime of memories that will keep me smiling for they were the best of times most of the time!!!!!!
I worked with Mildred briefly at SLPL but interacting with her at Black Caucus and storytelling events we got to know each other. She was passionate about black history, truthful storytelling and ensuring that the African American community got its fair share of library service and recognition. I know she'll be watching from the other side to make sure we keep carrying the torch. Prayers ascending.

Your Mom and Granny has touched my life and so many others through her love of history. Over the years we have attended many African American Events together.
She was part of our Friday Nite Out group. We would meet at different restaurants and spend time sharing stories together.
I met Mildred Rias at the St. Louis County Library, November 2000. She hired, trained and shared her wealth of knowledge with me.

Mildred and I were Vashon Class of 1970 classmates and friends. After graduating we would occasionally meet up with Rosemary Wilson and share a meal. Condolences and prayers to Stephanie and the entire Rias family. May God bless you and give you peace.
Ms. Mildred was so special. We met her at the library when our daughter was a baby. She has watched her grow up, and helped her and us ( my husband and I ), with so many things. I knew that if I needed anything she could find it. She had just sent a sympathy card to me at my mother's passing on June 15th. Always so thoughtful. I will miss her so much, and I now send my condolences to her loved ones. I'll be asking God to comfort and keep you.
I had the pleasure of working with Mildred at the county library and we had both worked for the city library, though not at the same time. Mildred had a great sense of humor and she was always laughing and making her coworkers laugh. She had a lot of knowledge, especially when it came to helping students and homeschool parents. She also had excellent fashion sense and we would talk about shoes in particular regularly. Mildred was always offering anything she could to help out her coworkers and friends.
Mildred was a sister, a dear friend to me and my family. I and my children will miss her. As i continue the journey we started I know you will be with me.
