Myrtline Rome's Obituary
Myrtline Loretta Rome was born on September 9, 1925 in Detroit, Texas. She was raised by her Uncle Rush and Aunt Lillie Phillips after the death of her Mother Susie Phillips.
She was educated in the Detroit, Texas School System. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri and joined Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Usher’s Board and the Mother’s Board until her health failed.
She married Wilie Lee Rome, whom preceded her in death and to this union, they were blessed with two children. She worked at Formost Manufacturing and later for the Urban League of Greater St. Louis.
Myrt loved to cook, garden, shop, and most definitely travel. But one of her greatest joys was to host family gatherings. She never met a stranger.
She departed this life on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 8:15 a.m. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Young and Lorraine Weaver.
Forever honoring her life and cherishing her memory are: daughter ~ Darlene (Charles) Edwards; son ~ Aaron Rome (Anecia); thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
