Onie Pate's Obituary
Mrs. Onie Re Pate was born October 25, 1921 in Oxford Mississippi to the union of Reverend Vassie and Rosetta Cosby. Both parents and eight siblings preceded her in death.
Onie loved the Lord and confessed a belief in Christ at an early age.
Onie attended the Mississippi School System in Oxford Mississippi. In 1945, the family migrated to St. Louis, Missouri and joined Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend G.H. Pruit.
In 1953, Onie was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Willie Earl Pate. One daughter and one son were born to this union. Onie Joined Galiee Missionary Baptist Churchin 1954 alongside her husband who was already a member of Galilee, under the leadership the late, Reverend Dr. I.C. Peay Sr. The torch was later passed to Reverend Dr. Carlton Caldwell.
Onie was a faithful member of the church until her health failed. She was a member of the Eunice Circle of the Women Missionary Union (W.M.U.) of Galilee.
Onie greeted everyone with a warm and friendly smile. She had a quiet and pleasant demeanor, which earned her the love and admiration from everyone who knew her. Her perseverance, strength and faith encouraged others to stay strong and to have faith and to trust in God.
On Tuesday April 26, 2016 the Lord called Onie from labor to reward.
Onie Leaves to cherish in her precious memories, Daughter- Shelley Wingo, Son- Everett Pate Sr. (Donna), both of St. Louis, Missouri. One Sister- Alcola Bonner of Memphis, Tennessee. Three Grandsons- Edward Wingo Jr., Preston WingoSr. (Rachel), and Everett Pate Jr. of Orlando Florida. Great Grandchildren- Preston Jr., Michael, Jordan, Jayla, Mariah, and Edward III. Onie also leaves to cherish her precious memory, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
