Van Elgin Scott
My dear dear sister, you are still iconic in my eyes! When Khatib and I were 13 and 14 year old developing athletes in the early 70's, you were already a fully blossomed beautiful black butterfly, full of life at 20/21. My memory is that of becoming the adopted neighborhood family member at the Foxworth's home on Sullivan. Always at your kitchen table eating whatever Mother Kayte had brewed that cold winter's day (especially that made from scratch chili), as Khatib and I headed off for basketball practice or running laps around Fairground Park.
Whenever I got a glimpse of you or a chance to speak with you, I was so impressed with your beauty and poise - okay, I was crushing on you, quite innocently as I recall. I cherished our familial relationship over the years. I am so glad I got to see you at Mother Kayte's home going services in 2012.
I pray that you rest in peace.
Forever your lil bro - Van Elgin Scott
~ Peace out ~~~
