Rachel Lee Oliver

Born to Walter Luther Dailey, Sr. and Sarah Corine Doyle Dailey, she entered into their lives on August 22, 1943. She was the oldest child born to this union. Rachel was always quiet and unassuming, smiling and laughter being at the top of the list of her many attributes. She confessed her hope in God at an early age and joined Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, Mississippi. Rachel began her education at Gray Elementary School founded by her Great-Grandfather William Richard Gray, Sr. Rachel along with other children in the community later attended Tallahatchie County Training School in the City of Charleston. This school was renamed Allen-Carver High School. In 1962, Rachel received her high school diploma. Upon graduation, she made the decision to further her life's ambition by moving to St. Louis, Missouri where she later met her life-long husband of 38 years, NC Oliver. To this union one child, Alan LaCie Oliver was born. They spent many years making a loving and caring home. They family later joined Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Rachel made her career as a Nursing Care Assistant in one of the major hospitals in St. Louis. She retired after more than forty years of service. Rachel loved shopping for figurines, clocks and different types of gadgets from on-line, catalogs (before on-line) and in-person. On December 27, 2023, Rachel life here on earth ended. She was called to another life, an eternal life. She was preceded in death by her husband, NC Oliver; her parents and one sister, Nieta. Rachel Lee as her parents, siblings and other relatives affectionately called her, will be missed and forever cherished by: her son ~ Alan Oliver of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers ~ Walter Dailey (Ruby) of Charleston, Mississippi and Burnett Dailey of Chicago, Illinois; sisters ~ Gwen Dailey of Charleston, MS, Shakira Bashir of Chicago, Illinois and Delois Dailey of Jackson, Tennessee; one uncle ~ Edward “Joe” Dailey (Sheila); three aunts ~ Ollie Dailey Hunt; Mildred Lyons and Delores Lyons; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and other acquaintances.
